Network and Affiliate Marketing: The Big Lie

You heard it all before, all of the clichés, all the rhetoric and the happy sayings but are any of them true? Let’s look at some of them: “You’re in business for yourself  but not by yourself”, “too much month at the end of your money”, how about, “the definition of insanity….blah…blah”, or J.O.B. = Just Over Broke, and my favorite, “The Triple M Theory….Meetings Make Money. Believe me I have used these and I enjoyed the response but are they the old way of thinking. I mean there is truth in all of them the question is how much. Yeah there ARE other people in business with you TECHNICALLY, how many are interested in your success, yeah its insane to keep doing the same thing but you’re also being trained THE SAME WAY, J.O.B……can’t say too much about that and Meetings are NOT the only way to make money. More and more now and even “then” people hate going to meetings. So how else can you make money in your business, you definitely can’t build a successful business off of one opportunity meeting a week and one Super Saturday a month. It is really about what you do BETWEEN meetings.

We are in a new age of network marketing and affiliate marketing, not only that but these types of  businesses have always been about relationships. No I am not talking about family and friends ONLY, I am talking about relationship with you potential business partners. Ask yourself would you want to go into business with a stranger or someone that you have built a relationship with over a short period of time. This business is truly about drawing the right kind of people to your information that are genuinely interested in being in business with you. The down fall in this type of business is that people get in with the expectations of making millions in a very short period of time. Most opportunities are not a “get rich quick scheme” it’s more like a get wealthy slowly…oh my gosh I am sure that’s a saying you are not familiar with. “Get wealthy slowly”, that’s called security.

Once you learn how to build relationships you will then have a skill that you can literally use for any product, any company at any time. The new way of marketing using Web 2.0 is less about meetings, contacting friends and family and rah rah rah. It is about using a time tested and proven methods to attract people to you and have them chasing you down versus you running after them and begging them to join your opportunity. You need to become a professional online marketer.

William Love has been in the marketing industry for over 20 years training and coaching. As the COO of one of the fastest growing network marketing companies in the consumer credit industry he hung up his hat to the “traditional” way of marketing. Utilizing the Web 2.0 system is a smarter vs. harder way of building a successful venture.
